Wow! 2009 is alive and kicking at Refresh! After a rejuvenating break over the holiday season, the crew at Refresh Creative Media are back and in full swing for the new year. With a host of exciting projects lined up for 2009, we’ve kicked things off at full pace and are showing no signs of slowing down. Be sure to keep your finger on the Refresh pulse; you won’t want to miss a beat.
So… just what have we been up to anyway?
During the final quarter of 2008, Refresh completed a series of awesome projects, including the new CayenneSuzuki website; a full-Flash website for film production company Dancing Light; and an e-commerce website for a rope access gear company, Vertical Safety Systems.
Cayenne Suzuki
CayenneSuzuki is primarily a motorcycle, quad-bike and jetski store based in Johannesburg. The new website, showcasing Suzuki bikes as well as CayenneSuzuki’s general and pre-owned ranges, has a content-managed product catalogue, as well as a customised “special offers” manager (built using the Refresh Content Management System). In addition, the website allows potential clients to request a trade-in valuation of their current motorcycle.
Dancing Light
One of the select few, full-Flash websites created by Refresh, the Dancing Light website is best seen firsthand. An eye-catching, attention-grabbing website was the crux of the brief… and Refresh delivered! The user-friendly interface showcases this company’s video portfolio in an attractive and dynamic, yet subtle, manner.
Vertical Safety Systems
Vertical Safety Systems (VSS) are a company offering training and products in the industrial and rope access industries. Stocking a large quantity of small products (in addition to the larger ones), VSS required a dynamic product catalogue and shopping cart. Thanks to a full Content Management System (CMS), the team at VSS are now able to update their website without so much as a blink of an eye.
… and the Refresh Crew expands
February sees two new arrivals at the Refresh HQ. Growing the team is always an exciting time.. John A Clarke (a local from Port Elizabeth) will be joining our ranks as a developer in our technical department, while Eduard Wedler will be joining us from Germany as a video editor and working on Unfinished Business, a mockumentary collaboration between Refresh, Fresh Air Crew and Jeremy Samson.

Social Media and You series – from the Refresh blog
Our resident blogger and social media marketer, Matt, has been writing a regular post series on the Refresh Blog this year, discussing social media, what it is, and how to make effective use of its tools in the workplace and in day-to-day life. A few highlights have been:
Part 01: Twitter
Part 02: Adding Value
Part 03: The Mobile Platform
Part 04: World Wide White House
The Refresh Blog also hosts a myriad of interesting articles discussing innovations on the web, in technology and in design and social media. Posts are written regularly, so subscribe to the RSS feed or check the blog regularly for the latest news and an interesting read for the day.
Phew!… and it’s only February!
One month into 2009 and things are already on the go. This year holds much for Refresh and it’s ever-developing and expanding crew, so be sure to stay in touch.
